I have to say, God has a way of getting your attention. A few years ago my husband and I found ourselves living in the fast lane. You know, that time in your life when you put your all into your jobs and children while squeezing in your own personal interests. You become superhuman as you try to balance your life to make everything work out. Convinced we were blessed and in need of nothing, our world all of a sudden turned upside down. The death of a son-in-law, a life threating car accident of our daughter and the breadwinner who’s illness just about wiped out everything we ever worked for. We found ourselves broken-hearted, jobless and forced to change our lifestyle. We have always considered ourselves to be prayer people. We would pray for our family, friends and for God’s will be done, but now when the testing and trials come, truth reveals the real us and how we are in need of a transformation.
To some extent, we all have our Job stories. No one I have ever met wants to be tested as Job was, yet at times we all face challenges that show where our true devotion lies. As I watch my husband in extreme pain continue for days, months and now years, he is faced with how to respond. Yes each of us will at some point be faced with something that will shake up our world. How we respond to these trials will pave the road of our destiny. Choose this day whom you will serve.
Once broken and stripped of what was thought to be life’s necessities, has helped me to clarify who I am and my purpose.
I came across Deuteronomy Chapter 6 verses 5-9.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
These words have become part of the foundation for Personal Growth Ministries. Now found to be living a distance from our family, a desire has been placed on me to start a product line that fills the world with scriptures. This way when my children wake up, lie down, walk in their yards and sit in their house’s they will be surrounded by the words of the Lord. My desire and inspiration have become to fill homes with items that draw attention to our Creator in hopes of fulfilling the gospel commission. Living in a world with so many distractions that take our eyes off of the Lord, I believe now is the time to refocus our attention to where our hearts really lie. Be the change you want to see in the world. May your light shine brightly!
